What if the friends had not stayed true to their elements?
In this alternate reality, four of the six ponies did not. Applejack was not honest, and dropped Twilight before she knew it was safe, resulting in Twilight breaking her leg. Ashamed of what she had done, AJ ran away to avoid conflict and she started a band of rogues. Fluttershy stayed true. However, the manticore was already attacking Twilight and Fluttershy sacrificed herself to save her friends. Instead of laughing in the face of danger, Pinkie Pie was frightened and ran away to live a reclusive life. Rarity did not offer her gift to soothe the serpent, and instead was rude and captured by the serpent. Rainbow Dash turned away from her friend and became captain of the Shadowbolts. Ultimately, when Twilight finally arrived at the castle, in terrible shape, she was easily defeated by Nightmare Moon, who destroyed the Elements of Harmony forever.
Nightmare Moon took over Equestria, ruling the everlasting night. She allied with Queen Chrysalis, Discord, King Sombra, and their minions. Anyone who defied their rule was thrown into the maximum security prison- Twilight Sparkle was the first inmate. The Shadowbolts took over Cloudsdale, setting laws which benefited only them. Because of this, almost all of Cloudsdale's residents line up for Shadowbolt Academy. Back in the Everfree Forest, Spike searched for Rarity, letting nothing get in his way. Pinkie Pie built a shack in which to live a secluded life for the rest of her days. Fluttershy's spirit inhabited a beautiful grove full of plants and animals. All across Equestria, Nightmare Moon offered a one-time service- if you served her for a year, and she was satisfied with your service, she would grant your deepest wish. Of course, being the wicked mare she was, once the ponies had completed their year of servitude, she always turned them down and they had to serve her for the rest of their lives. Anyone who resisted was thrown in her prison. The Cutie Mark Crusaders, desperate enough to try anything, entered their years of servitude. When they were refused their wish, only Scootaloo resisted. She was thrown in the prison.
There's been talk of revolution. Applejack, determined to right her wrong, has formed a group of rebels who will take any measures to try and free Celestia and defeat Nightmare Moon. Will the revolution go as planned? Only time, and your efforts to help, will tell.
